Does Diet Affect How You Feel/your Level Of Inflammation? Have You Seen A Dietitian? Do You Have The Energy To Exercise?

I know my diet has a direct influence on my level of inflammation. After feasting on Thanksgiving I felt AWFUL yesterday. Sugar especially. I did speak with a RD but basically had the knowledge she imparted. As with most things in life, I’m unable to “perfectly” follow eating all whole grains, eating a rainbow- especially raw veggies, etc. And with the other things the RD shared (red meat no more than 2x a mo, 8 glasses of water a day, etc) I do the best I can with my other medical issues, in… read more

Hello I have joint stiffness aches every day, especially when I first wake up. Some days are better than others. I’ve often wondered why? Is this was caused by something that I ingested the day before. What I have found out is this: First I do resonate with what you’re saying about the oncologist being trained in oncology. There’s a such thing as a oncology nutritionist who can help you if one is available. They do have dietitians that help you also - most of the time that’s just basics. I found that to be a waste of my time. I have always been healthy. I’ve gone to the gym, worked out. My occupation choice is very physical, I’m working very hard to get back to that point. I’m doing well outside of the joint stiffness. Sorry for the bunny trail back to my answer to your question. One of the biggest things that I have found is to avoid processed sugar & carbonated beverages and to stay well hydrated. Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is good. When I started eating clean, no processed foods I really started to feel better. During chemo, I really craved sweets. I was told by my oncologist that moderation is OK.…. Well moderation isn’t the same for everyone..

I am 18 months post Rituxan and am improving my endurance with water aerobics. The workout is whole body, but I can skip a few if needed and less taxing on my breathing than out of water. I manage a trip through our Target for groceries (longer than the neighborhood grocery) and was still able to walk to the car after checkout. Slowly getting more endurance.

I get up early & go to the gym when it opens. That's 5:30 on weekdays & 07:00 on weekends because I feel like I have to do it, early as possible! Frequently I take a nap immediately when I get home. That's OK because I'm not young I've had lymphoma for 21 years !!!!!

I’d like to say thank you last night was a bad night for me and I really needed a home team. I was diagnosed 2020 with small B cell follicular and Rituxan, which caused me some serious neuropathy. And I just started feeling more like myself this past spring. Then August fatigue, horrible night sweats, I didn’t feel any lumps or bumps, so I chucked it up to menopause. I went to my primary care and she said call your oncologist just in case it was time for my next pet scan anyway.. now stage four. Not only that they found a different Cancer to boot. it’s hard not to have a pity party over it. I’m still in shock and I’m waiting for a biopsy on Wednesday. and after talking to someone on TikTok, they mentioned this site. And it feels good to hear other peoples trials and triumphs. Thank you so much.

I am also post Rituxan. Gradually increasing my walking tolerance. Almost 6 months since I completed treatments. Blessed to have slight shrinkage of my Mass. In the last couple weeks I am finally able to walk in our small neighborhood grocery and a few aisles at WalMart without getting short of breath. Still blessed to have a spouse that drops me off and picks me up at the door.
