First Chemo Treatment - What To Expect
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Husband has first round of chemo (R CHOP) on Thursday. He is normally very healthy and active...what can we expect him to be like after treatment? Does pain dimish and fatigue get better right away?

I had 6 cycles of R CHOP with 3 weeks between each cycle. I has stage 4 diffuse large B cell NHL. I got some relief from my back pain after the first cycle and complete relief after the second cycle. My fatigue improved a little, but then got worse after the third cycle. I never had much nausea, but did have a reduced appetite so ate soup and/or drank Ensure. I would usually have a little energy about a few days before and after each cycle, but the fatigue would return about a week after the treatment. The chemo was very hard on my blood cells and I had blood transfusions 3 times and plasma 3 times.
I hope you have don't have bad side effects, but be prepared to have someone cook and clean for you. Be patient. Your energy and stamina can take weeks to return to somewhat normal levels and month to get back to where you were before. Hope and determination will get you through. Good luck.

I have the same as u except mine is double hit and my chemo didn't bother me at all except for the fatigue and the r-chop stopped working so I had to change to E-poch and stay for 6 days in the hospital every 3 weeks for infusion I liked doing it in the clinic I hated the hospital especially the food 🤣 I always considered myself lucky cuz I have seen the people that have been thru hell and u are one of them if I could help some, I would I would take ur pain for u so u could have more good days than bad days I am so sorry.
