Rituxan As A Follow Up Treatment
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

May be taking rituxan as a follow up treatment. Just finished up r chops 5 weeks ago. Are there side effects? I am in remission but still have a very small amount of non hodgkins lymphoma left in mid section. Will it get rid of it or does it keep it from growing? What are the chances of it coming back while on this drug?Tks, becky

Retuxan's full name is Retuximab. Any drug ending in the letters "mab" is a monoclonal antibody. MAB's are used to stimulate the patients immune system. First treatment I had Retuxan combined with bedamustine. Second treatment (because the first failed) was just Retuxan every two months, that did not work either. Next they decided on two cycles of O-CHOP that failed miserably so they gave in and were able to get me a referral to Moffitt Cancer Center and they were able to get me enrolled in a clinical trial for CAR-T. That worked or we would be chatting now. Twenty five months in remission. When I say something did not work don't let that concern you. Everyone is different and not all drugs work on everyone else we would only have or need a single treatment.

I take Rituxun as my regular treatment. Did not have anything else the first year. I have heard several people take this as follow-up after chemo. I had some irregular growth on my face. Lymphoma tissue, not nodes. That's why I take an oral chemo pill now. It's working! I can see the tissue disappeared. Never had any side effects of problems with the Rituxan infusions, but did have fatigue. I don't think you are ever did of NHL, but you do get remission. Hopefully many many years. Good luck and God Bless you.💚💚
