At this point, I’ve decided not to start treatment
I have lost two friends in the last year to other types of cancer
They both went through chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
They continued telling me that the chemotherapy had caused many uncomfortable side effects and weren’t sure whether it was causing more painful issues than it was worth.
They both have passed in the last three months.
They both expressed to me that their quality of life, and getting some extra months, wasn’t really… read more

I am a 72 year old male and was diagnosed with stage 4 B-Cell lymphoma in October 2021. I delayed treatment until April of 2023. I began chemotherapy and immunotherapy in April and have not experienced any severe effects. Only two brief bouts of nausea after the first round of treatment and a couple of weeks of severe itching also after the first round. I have been able to do most everything I would normally do with the only persistent side effect being tired for a couple of days after infusions. The most recent PET scan shows the lymphoma is gone but I will have two more treatment sessions before transitioning to a maintenance program.

Hey if you can receive Rituxan as an option, I would encourage you to take it ! I "watched & waited" for many years with Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma but most of us eventually require treatment! Monoclonal Antibody Treatment is a new and bearable treatment & if you're fortunate enough to be a candidate for this kind of treatment, I think it could help you without many side effects ! It's been about 5 years for me & I'm just about 100% normal, at least for now ! Best of luck & health to you !!!!! JP

Hi Linda,
I also did okay with Rituxan and Bendemustine. Had some side effects from Bendemustine but have been in remission since September 2022.
Thank You LORD!
Hope you continue to do well . Stay in touch.
God bless, Gayla

2008 I had Rituxan and CVP for slow growing follicular that was everywhere in my torso and in my bone marrow, I was 62. It saved my life and I had very few side effects, I even worked part time then and never missed a scheduled hour. 14 yrs later in2022 I relapsed and had Rituxan and Bendemustine. I am better now than I was then, and looking forward to my 78th birthday this month. Both did what they were supposed to do. Rituxan has very few side effects, (the bad kinds chemo is know for). Bendemustine was OK but has a lot of side effects and I know there are other drugs available. If your Dr recommends watch and wait, for a slow growing lymphoma you are lucky, just listen to your Dr. Mind over matter and I did not mind chemo a bit. Looking forward to 2025,when Medicare changes the max for out of pocket drugs, It cost me a lot last year, but will be less $$ next yr.
