Unsupportive Spouse?
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I hope no one else is in my situation, but in case you are...

How would you deal with a spouse who is completely unsympathetic to your disease and treatment?

My current treatment schedule is every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. (P.S. he has never gone with me and has his own vehicle). I scheduled a haircut for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2 pm. My husband just read me the damn riot act for planning a hair appointment tomorrow when he wanted to go out together to run errands. He told me to never do… read more

It sounds like you would benefit from having a therapist/counselor on your team. Mine was part of the cancer team. It can't hurt to ask your oncologist if that sort of support is available.

Jacci you are not alone. There are many fools out there. I have my adult son living here he’s been a huge help. Do you have anyone that can help ? Maybe see if there is a neighborhood teenager looking for a job. If he’s like mine he wouldn’t like it but tell him something has to be done. ❤️🙋🏼‍♀️

I'm so sorry you're going through this basically alone. However we're here for you. My husband died of liver failure about 1.5 years before I was diagnosed. I often wonder if he might have stopped drinking had my cancer happened sooner. But that was not God's plan. I pray you have other family members to help get you through this. Please have faith and pull from your inner strength. I'll pass on any comments I may have regarding you're spouse. Stay strong! Vonnie

Thank you Beth4!! I know it's absolutely maddening! I'm in SW Virginia, but we can still be here to support each other! 💗💗💗

Whatever you going through you shouldn't go through it alone. If he's so insensitive and doesn't want to be bothered, lls can probably help find a support group or something local for you. If your tech savvy you could probably find it on your own but you would get a really good reference from LLS. Sometimes our spouse is don't possess the will or the knowledge to be what we need for them to be but that doesn't mean we don't deserve to have the help. Find it for yourself and I'm sure that will open up a whole new way of thinking for you as well
