Got a bone density scan to get the "all clear" to proceed with a rotator cuff repair surgery. That was wishful thinking. The scan showed severe osteoporosis. My Drs did not blink - just ordered medication to treat osteoporosis. My dear RN friend questioned why I have this dx at the age of 60. She said that does not seem right - you should ask for further testing. My rheumatologist ordered me to take Calcium and vitamin D supplements twice a day and after almost 2 months finally got… read more
Hi Rebecca. I did a little research and couldn’t find anything linking hyper parathyroidism to lymphoma. I knew there’s a lot of sites out there that I might have missed. I myself have high calcium in my blood. I have hypothyroidism, and my endocrinologist said that due to this high calcium, I was not to take any added calcium by way of a vitamin. I will not see her again till June and will have more questions as to this issue. I do have osteoporosis and I wonder if the high calcium has caused this in someway. I welcome any added input. I hope you are doing well and continue to be your own advocate.
My primary care assigned me to an Oncologist who I ended up leaving, as she was unsupportive, uncaring/cold & offered me zero info - other than diagnosis.
Our daughter works with Cancer Clinical Trials, I asked her who the best was in our State... 5 mo. later I changed Oncologists.
To find the highest rated, supportive Oncologist ..
start by *Contacting your Health Ins. Co.
Ask for Oncology Med Groups & ask for lists of Dr names - who Do take your Ins.
Then check reviews for them - both the Oncology business And individual Dr.'s.
See If the Oncology Group has a website-read All reviews, check their * ratings/comments.
Check reviews on Google, perhaps Yelp & the BBB too.
*Check this site for answers:
LLS.ORG the Lymphoma Leukemia Society organization.. 👍
Answers about lymphoma, Leukemia & specific types can all be found there. A fabulous site offering proven Honest, accurate info.
lls.org They also offer *Free pamphlets, booklets, sheets of info which they'll mail to you.
I believe the limit is 31 pamphlets, yet you pay Nothing for shipping either!
Take care and try not to worry, it's not good for us.

Thanks so much for your comment. Medicine, IMHO, is a business, more interested in upselling tx/extras and products/tests than actually curing anything (because when they cure something it ceases to produce any profit).
I mentioned my interest in diet and more natural or homeopathic treatment to my orthopedic when he told me that there is literally nothing to be done improve my arthritis. He, as a surgeon, of course recommends surgery to "maybe" repair my severely torn rotator cuff. Oh MY! Other than advice to "don't do stupid stuff" like extreme sports (haha) or fall, he offered steroid shots and narcotic pain meds. He did refer me to "a friend" associated with some sort of east/west acupuncture business. She was an ex-pharmacist that did not review the list of medications I provided. She did about a 25 minute set of muscle strength tests involving just my left arm, different finger positions and laying different items beside or on me. She then "prescribed" many expensive supplements (that she sold). My official impression: Quack?!? that preys on people who are scared, sick and/or in pain. So sad. A waste of my time/money.
How do you find a legit provider in your area?
I do not.
I had my thyroid a tad low when I had NHL. The doctor said it wasn't a big deal and I came out fine after chemo
You can too.
