Surgery has been my only treatment so far; but in my case they were heading down the wrong path in what they thought it was. Surgery got me a correct diagnosis but later an oncologist told me I should have never had the surgery. Hindsight is 20/20, I tried to make the best decision I could at the time. I could not really eat or drink and the obstruction caused many unpleasant GI issues. They also had to give me an external bile drain as my bile was backing up into my blood stream. Researching later, there are quite a few options. They might have used radiation to try to shrink the enlarged lymph node that caused the obstruction. After getting the correct diagnosis, I was offered both Rituximab or RCHOP (which for many reasons I declined both so far). Over 2 years later, still considered in remission. The analysis at the local hospital was different than the one the CA center arrived at. I highly recommend that you get at least one more opinion and preferably with a specialist in your type of Lymphoma. Every journey is unique so try to figure out what your priorities are and do what is best for you and your family. Hugs!
I am in remission, had 4 infusions of Rituximab for my marginal zone in 3/21, no other treatment but developed other issues like autoimmune, RA and other conditions. But I'm grateful and blessed for each given day.
I doing only Rituximab for maintenance of remission..
Yes, I have SMZL and so far Rituxan has been the only treatment I’ve received. Started with once a week for 4 weeks then once every 2 mos. for 4 mos. It took months
for my blood levels to come up which was scary. If you want more info I’d be glad to go over procedure and reactions. Think so much depends on type of lymphoma.
Were these conditions related to the Rituximab ..I’ve heard of good outcomes and long remissions after Rituximab…hope you get well..
