Members reassured someone worried about having six PET scans in three years, with many sharing they've had far more scans without concern, including one member who had 13 within two years and another who lost count after five years of monitoring. Several members explained that radiation exposure from modern PET scans is minimal compared to older technology or even flying in a plane, and emphasized that frequent scanning is often necessary to catch recurrence early and stay ahead of cancer. A recurring theme was gratitude for the technology that allows close monitoring, with members encouraging the person to focus on the scans as a powerful tool for survival rather than a risk.

After I finished my treatment, I had a pet scan every four months and now I’m down to every six months I don’t think about it like that I think about it as I’m doing my maintenance so I can live and survive if it was anything to be concerned about I’m sure it would be dealt with but you should ask your oncologist or radiologist .

The only way I've been able to keep up with my lymphoma is through PET scans ... I've lost count of how many I've had in the last 5 years! :D I can be absolutely riddled with tumours and my blood work always comes back "perfect".

I've had 13 PET/CT scans within the last 2 years and have close monitoring due to being in a clinical trial. The radiologists say exposure is small and not to worry. You get more radiation just flying in a plane for several hours at a time.

Of course, I will share this with you. I did ask the individual who has been with me through each and every one of my pet scans about that and she said the exposure is extremely minimal now compared to what it was years ago.. I refer back to just wanting to kick cancers a$$ completely and the way to do this and win the battle and stay ahead and know where you’re at is through the scans.

I’ve had a lot of scans, but that is the only way they can tell if you have a new tumour and if you do how fast it is growing. That way they can catch it early. Me I like to keep up on what’s going on. 🙏🙏🙏
