Had similar results after completion of RCHOP chemo infusion. 2 questionable areas in pulmonary region. Oncologist and pulmonologist recommended a bronchoscopy. I had procedure done and spots were non-cancerous. Procedure was no big deal. Have been in remission now for 17 months. Good luck and God bless you!

What are the risks of a biopsy after a PET scan shows questionable areas following R-CHOP treatment?

A biopsy after R-CHOP treatment carries similar risks to any biopsy procedure. You can expect:

* Pain at the biopsy site for a few days after the procedure
* Local anesthesia will be used to numb the area
* Your doctor may offer a mild sedative to help you relax

PET scans are commonly used after R-CHOP treatment to check how well the therapy worked or to monitor for any concerning areas. If questionable areas appear, a biopsy helps determine whether lymphoma cells remain or if the cancer has returned.

It's natural to feel anxious about biopsies and scan results. Many people experience significant stress waiting for results, but the biopsy provides crucial information about your treatment response and next steps.

Talk with your healthcare team about any specific concerns you have about the biopsy procedure. They can explain what to expect and help manage any discomfort during recovery.
