Should you use Essiac herbal tea while managing lymphoma?

It's great that you checked with your oncologist first - that was absolutely the right move! Your doctor's advice not to use the tea is important to follow.

Here's why herbal supplements can be problematic during lymphoma treatment:

* Many herbal supplements haven't been thoroughly tested for safety or effectiveness in people with cancer
* Some herbs can interfere with chemotherapy drugs and make them less effective
* Natural doesn't always mean safe, especially when you're undergoing cancer treatment
* Supplements don't have to be proven effective before they're marketed

Your oncologist knows your specific treatment plan and can identify potential interactions that could reduce the effectiveness of your therapy or cause unwanted side effects.

If you're looking for ways to manage symptoms or side effects, talk with your healthcare team about evidence-based options that won't interfere with your treatment. They can recommend safe alternatives that complement your lymphoma care.

Good job advocating for yourself by asking first! 😊

Jerri ot looks like too me, if you're receiving chemotherapy because it can interfere with the effectiveness of your chemotherapy drug, at least that's what I took away from the article.

I drink herbal teas; one cup every morning however and to be clear this caution to stop, is if a patient is on chemotherapy? Or, having the diagnosis of Lymphoma w/o chemotherapy too?
