My doctor is recommending this treatment and my brain can’t seem to process anything other than the serious adverse effects like TLS and infusion reactions within the first 24 hours of your first rituxin infusion. What was your experience like? I’m 38 years old and no other medical issues. My anxiety is just getting the better of me today.

I’m currently on this treatment the side effects there’s no way of knowing how your body will react until you start the treatment . The list of side effects for both the Rituximab and Lenalimide is extensive . I was scared at first and once I began treatment, and anxiety level was up there . Having a good team of nurses and doctors really helped me get through the treatments . I’m also trying my best to take it one day at a time . Make sure to keep a log and report any symptoms or if you feel sick to the Oncologist . The most important thing is to stay masked up and not get an infection and have to be hospitalized . The Rituximab/Lenalimide R2 treatments I’m on cycle 6 . I started October 2025 . The Lenalimide the Oncologist had the dosage changed 4 times thus far 20 mg , 10 mg , 5 mg , now 2.5 mg due to nuetropenia. My neutrophils white blood cells are low . The Lenalimide side effects I’ve experienced are constipation , rash different areas of my body , I had difficulty sleeping but it’s gotten worst . The Rituximab I was able to tolerate it with no noted problems . I had a Petscan recently and so far the treatments are working - partial response . Praying all goes well during your treatment 🤗 and stay blessed.

What has been the experience of others who received rituximab/lenalidomide as first-line treatment for follicular lymphoma, and how can you manage anxiety about serious side effects?

It's completely understandable that anxiety is taking over when you're focusing on the serious side effects. Your medical team will monitor you closely during that first infusion specifically to watch for and manage any reactions quickly.

Rituximab is commonly used for follicular lymphoma, often combined with chemotherapy or other drugs. Many people receive this treatment successfully. The combination of rituximab with chemotherapy often leads to longer remission periods than chemotherapy alone.

While serious reactions like tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) and infusion reactions can occur, your healthcare team takes precautions to prevent and manage these. They'll likely give you medications before the infusion to reduce reaction risk and monitor you carefully throughout.

Common side effects people experience are generally more manageable than the serious ones you're worried about. These might include:
* Fatigue
* Nausea
* Digestive issues
* Flu-like symptoms

At 38 with no other medical issues, you're in a good position to tolerate treatment well. Younger people in better overall health often handle treatments more effectively.

Talk to your doctor about your specific concerns. They can explain what monitoring will happen during your infusion and what warning signs to watch for. This might help ease your anxiety by knowing exactly what safety measures are in place.
