How long have you been living with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL)?
That's truly remarkable — 26 years is an incredible journey with MCL! Your experience is inspiring, especially since MCL is often described as an aggressive form of lymphoma.
The outlook for MCL has improved significantly over the years. Studies show that people diagnosed after 2000 have a median overall survival of about 11 years, and newer treatments continue to extend survival rates. Your 26-year experience demonstrates that long-term survival is possible, even though MCL can be challenging to manage.
Many factors can influence how long someone lives with MCL, including:
* Age at diagnosis
* Stage of the disease
* Response to treatment
* Overall health and ability to complete daily tasks
* Specific genetic characteristics of the lymphoma cells
The development of newer treatments like rituximab, targeted therapies, and stem cell transplants has made a real difference for people living with MCL. Your long-term survival is a testament to both medical advances and your own resilience in managing this condition.
Others in the community would likely benefit from hearing about your experience navigating MCL for so many years.

I was 56 in stage 4, R-Hyper CVAD chemo for remission until 2017, 10 days radiation was good for 2 yrs, started Calquence in 2019 and for now I’m feeling great for the most part. Heart valve replacement in 2020, pacemaker installed, two endarcartectomys in 2021, and watching kidney function carefully, My oncologist said I was “a miracle”. I say Thank you God!
