Has Anyone Ever Been Diagnosed With Two Different Types Of Lymphoma?
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

June 2019 i was diagnosed with primary cns lymphoma.
This year in march i had an ovary removed. They found diffuse large b cell lymphoma. My oncologist wants to put me on the r-CHOP regimen with stem cell transplant to follow as maintainance therapy.

I was diagnosed with DLBCL 3/2019 which had developed from transformed follicular lymphoma- I still had both cells in my tumor and also a micro cell of papillary thyroid cancer- so I basically had three at one time. I had the lymphoma tumor removed (10cm- completely encased in my thyroid) and although my post op pet scan was clear I was advised to do chemo- so I did 4 cycles of RCHOP at Fred Hutch in Seattle. At the recommendation of Dr. Westin @ MD Anderson ( I went for a second opinion prior to starting chemo) I needed to only do 4 cycles vs. the standard 6 based of the efficacy results of a clinical trial (Flyer trial 12/2019) - That was 4 years ago. I am still cancer free ❤️

I was originally diagnosed with Waldenstroms-- lymphoplasmacitic lymphoma and it then transformed to a second type, DLBCL. I have been in remission from both for two years, although my most recent PETSCAN found a hot spot in my colon. I am waiting for a biopsy to report to see if it is lymphoma or infection/inflamation. (Follow-up note:The Biopsy is negative- but I appear to have strictures most likely related to radiation to sacrum and chronic infection)

Yes, Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins. One is more aggressive. I had a bone Marrow Transplant (my own) and am in remission about 4 years.

Azilde and Victor, thank you. I have had two R-Chop infusions so far, today I am too tired to move. I found the steroids decreased my pain quite a bit, I can sleep on my right side now where the hip tumour is and I couldn't before, but I am only two sessions in so I guess I have to other responses to look forward to. I caught covid after my first infusion and that might be making me tired as well, but I took the meds and it went away within a week. My hair is 80% gone needless to say. After the 3d infusion they will decide whether to continue with this therapy or switch to a different one. I am fortunate, I am at Princess Margaret Cancer Care hospital in Toronto, Canada, and the care is excellent. it's the diagnosis that sucks, double hit lymphoma does not have a great rate of recovery. My oncologist said he has to be optimistic, he's an oncologist, if he wasn't optimistic he would change jobs, and I wanted to hug him.
