Treatment Questions
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I began testing last June because of one swollen lymph node. In August they determined I had Lymphoma. It took another biopsy and 2 more months before they diagnosed me with SLL/CLL. They say it is “slow growing” and 2 doctors agreed I should not begin treatment yet. Although by this time I now have 4 swollen lymph nodes in my neck. Hi I was diagnosed with SLL also I see oncologist on July 5th I have swollen axillary nodes and in my neck just like you. I also have night sweats but that is not new so I don’t know if I will have treatments or not..I’m going through the same feelings as you but as far as the watch and wait I’ve read that it’s not a bad thing some people go years without treatment so they don’t want to start it if you don’t need it especially if your blood counts are good. I guess you just have to have faith that your oncologist is doing the right thing for you.

I would say if you WANT treatment I would request from the oncologist the treatment as it would ease my anxiety.

My story gives you some details of what I went through, although I had a different type of lymphoma. My oncologist had very specific criteria (size, location and growth) for when he would start treatment. I’d suggest asking your oncologist to provide some criteria or guidelines on when he would start treatment. Also, if you haven’t already, get a second opinion if you are able. I wish and pray for the best for you.
