A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I'm 20 yrs. into my journey with nhl follicular b-cell indolent, many treatments, many relapses...treatable not curable
now we're considering a CAR-T cell treatment - a transplant procedure of my T cells approved by FDA in 2016...and people are experiencing complete remission as in possibly cured
Has anyone undergone this particular treatment & if so I'd greatly appreciate the opportunity to chat...
It's a pretty intense procedure with lots of possible serious side effects...
Thanks for any… read more

Hello Shelley4,
We seem to be in the same boat. My oncologist sent me to a CAR-T specialist and we are in the early stages of arranging treatment (Apr-May). I read about this procedure and side effects months ago and said I would not agree to get it. However, things are not getting better after 2 rounds of treatment so here I am... I was encouraged by JeanneVoxnaes' reply above.

Dennis3, I am so sorry CAR-T didn't work for you and hope the chemo will. When I first heard about CAR-T, the cure rate was only 40%, which made me reluctant to try it. But I didn't really have another option and my family encouraged me to do it. I think the cure rate may be higher now, or I was just very lucky. hang in there. There are more treatments in clinical trial. I hope something works for you.

Hi Dennis,
Very sorry to hear CAR-T didn't work for you. Some lymphoma's seem like a stubborn weed that just won't go away. My 2nd line treatment was paused due to side effects so I'm prepping for CAR-T. I'm hoping it sticks... If you don't mind what type lymphoma do you have? I have grade 3a follicular. It came back during my 2 year maintenance program.

I wish you the best with chemo.
Chris

I had Car-T in August, worked for a couple months then my Lymphoma came back. Doing chemo again, Doctor said this chemo has about a 10 percent chance of working.
