Hi sweetie.
I was diagnosed Christmas Eve 2021.
I am on a watch & wait situation. I have not had any treatment so far.
My oncologist said my Igm level is ok.
I have lost 25 pounds and have lost my appetite.
I walk my dogs 2 miles when I feel up to walking.
I get fatigued really easily and it is so annoying.
I love to garden but I am starting to loose interest.
My whole career was in veterinary medicine and I loved my job.
Having Waldenstrom has certainly changed my life for the worst.
I will admit I have had a pity party.
I hope you are feeling well and have a great support system.
Sending a hug.

Hello Donnaruth, I was also diagnosed with Waldenstrom in 2018 and had B/R treatment for 6 months and then 22 months of Ritux maintenance. I also had breast cancer 32 years ago.
Are you a member of the Waldenstrom Foundation forum? I have found the fellow “Wally’s” on there to be the most helpful resource in navigating this rare condition. Take care and be well!

Donnaruth:

I was diagnosed with WM in the fall of 2018. I did a course of Bendamustine/Rituximab chemo in 2019.

I felt pretty good for about 30 months, then it returned.

I currently take Zanabrutinib. It has had a few side effects, but nothing terrible.

My biggest issues are peripheral neuropathy and fatigue.

I eat healthy and excercise regularly.

I sleep about 8 hours per night and nap for 60-90 minutes one or two times a day.

I am a 59 year old man that was healthy and vigorous before this illness. I would say that I have lost about 15% of my energy.

You can manage this disease pretty well with the newer treatments.

Matt
