Thought I had relapse of my follicular lymphoma which began spring 2018. However turned out that it changed from follicular to diffuse large b cell lymphoma in July 2023. One 3 cm tumor in same area (right groin) as original follicular was. Follicular presented quickly...3 golf ball size tumors were surgically removed 5 days after I noticed a lump.
6 months chemo and 1 year immunotherapy for first lymphoma. Covid and long covid followed in 2021 2022
Ivig treatment until December 2022 to boost low immune cell counts.
R-chop chemo since July 2023...last treatment this Thursday. Radiation therapy followup planned next.
I'm experiencing every side effect listed from this chemo regimen and several to extreme.
Sleep disturb...constant urination day and night...severe muscle cramps..brain fog..and fatigue are the worst.
My blood work always looks great( close to normal)
But I sure don't feel great.
Before final results of biopsy came back they thought it was recurrent follicular lymphoma and were going to treat the 3 cm tumor with radiation. ########### So to answer your question...radiation was the prescribed treatment for follicular after first line of rituximab, bendamustine, and 1 year immunotherapy.
Marijuana is the only medicine I'm taking to help with chemo cause nothing they prescribed works.
It is frustrating that I felt I had to use chemo both times because of the aggressive way the tumors appeared .
Anyway I have learned a lot the past 5 years about NHL but I still have a ton of unanswered questions as well. So here I am trying to figure it out and survive as well.
