My doctor said it’s possible to get another blood cancer down the road with chemo or another type of cancer from radiation. They did say the chances are low in the single digits.

Yes If you believe you need a second opinion do it. Sometimes things are missed, this really does happen (more than you know). No one can judge you for being vigilant w your health. A cancer diagnosis is serious not stitches. As a First Responder I never judge anyone for their decisions. I have been on both sides. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I had basal and squamous cell skin CAs starting about 6 years before NHFL dx. However, 4 more in just the past year has made me wonder if there is a connection. No other tx than surgery, but after dx I now get mammos or an MRI every 6 months due to suspicious areas that keep popping up (4 biopsies so far have not resulted in a CA dx - YEAH! and no family hx but I still have to get checked) and skin checks about every 3 months. Due to too much sun, light skin/blonde/blue-eyed and growing up in Florida and/or the NHFL, who really knows? We all seem to have our own unique set of challenges. With the more recent discoveries, I have been starting to research connections. Summarizing what I have read so far: Once you have one cancer, it does seem to make you more prone to have others. Yes - some txs may fight one type of CA while making it more likely to develop other types. Best you can do is not freak/stress out but pay attention to what is happening in your body - because you know it best. Don't let any Dr dismiss your issues as "nothing", it's your body so you know what is normal for you and when something is off. Hugs!

I do not know of anyone personally but I have read that it can happen from one of the many articles I've read about lymphoma in general. Can't remember why this would happen though. I'm hoping that this did not happen to Don as in your last post he seemed to be doing so well and praying that is so still. We go down to UCSD next month to meet Doug's second opinion doctor in person and looking forward to his take on how Doug is doing so far and what we might expect down the line. Sending hugs!
