Hi! I have/had DLBCL stage IV and had 6 treatments of RCHOP chemo. I was never hospitalized. It was rough at times. Especially the last couple treatments. But, I rested, drank LOTS of water to flush it through and made sure I ate protein for my blood numbers. I of course lost my hair but it came back. I did have a reaction to rituxan the first round. But, they gave me a med that stopped the reaction and I never had it again. Make sure he takes the antinausea med on time. I even set my alarm for the middle of the night so I wouldn't skip a dose. Yes. Scans and blood tests done in February showed no cancer. But, I'm sort of a very, very rare individual. I had/have indolent lymphoma, the marginal zone variety, which transformed into the aggressive variety. RCHOP did the job with the aggressive version, but I'm told I'll have the indolent disease for life. But, still, I'm both cancer free from the aggressive and symptom free for the indolent.

My first round of RCHOP in August 2023 was in the hospital, but I was already there so it was just more convenient. After that the next 5 treatments were at the clinic. I was one of the "fortunate handful" who had almost no side effects, or at least the more nasty variety (nausea, diarrhea, feeling really bad). I was pretty apprehensive about getting chemo outside the hospital setting, but the clinic I went to was exceptional in all ways and it turned out my apprehensions were unfounded.

Annette, I have been following your story but was unaware of your husband's passing. I am so very sorry. Thank you for your well wishes. I hope your kidney issue is easily resolved and that you and your daughter have a lovely time in Mexico!

Katie 2, welcome .I was 78 , Large B cell NHL. Ihad 4 radiation on 7 cin my neck and 6 RCHOOP 3 weeks apart , my body handled it well. I just did what I liked pretended Iwas on vacation, I had to put my husband of 58 years in Memory care as he had AlZ and Iknew I couldn’t do both. When my numbers went down they assured me they knew they would. On sat morning at 6:30 am they called and said your white and platelets are dangerously low, take it extra easy and head to ER if needed , I didn’t have too. I did get a blood clot in my jugular vein from the port, was in hospital for that as I live alone,drove self to Er and home from hospital. I was on blood thinner for 4or 5 mos then we did 4 spinal infusion of methodextrate for prevention and we took out the port. Feeling good now at 80. 1/2 , my husband of 61 years passed away Dec 27, 2023 . Now my kidney niumbwra are heading wrong way but could be from my diabetes or other med ,so dealing with that now. I read, quilt play mah Jong , and will be going to Mexico with daughter in June , just the two of us to a all inclusive resort looking forward to the time I get to spend with her.
