What Is The Prognosis Of Watchful Waiting Vs Treatment?

I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell lymphoma in November 2022 and have been on Wait and Watch. I just had my 3-month monitoring appointment yesterday. My spleen is getting big and my oncologist noted my blood numbers are trending in the wrong direction. However, I feel good and therefore my oncologist is recommending I continue on Wait and Watch. She has assured me that delaying treatment doesn't reduce my overall survival, but it does spare me the side effects from treatment, some of which could be lethal. Wait and Watch is not for everyone. In my case, the cancer is currently growing relatively slowly. Mantle Cell is incurable and always comes back after treatment. It is also harder to treat the 2nd time. Therefore, delaying treatment also delays starting the relapse clock and holds the treatment in reserve until it is absolutely necessary. Again, Wait and Watch doesn't apply to everyone, but I am grateful for the time to enjoy life without treatment.
