What is peripheral neuropathy and how does it affect people with lymphoma?

Peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage that can cause numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain - commonly affecting the hands, feet, and legs. It occurs when the peripheral nerves (located outside the brain and spinal cord) are damaged, either from lymphoma itself or its treatments, particularly chemotherapy. Common symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include:

• Pain and tingling sensations, especially in hands and feet
• Difficulty feeling things you touch
• Muscle weakness
• Poor coordination
• Trouble with daily tasks like buttoning clothes
• Unusual heart rate
• Dizziness
• Urgent need to urinate
• Digestive issues
• Changes in sweating patterns

Many MyLymphomaTeam members report challenges with daily activities, from walking to picking up small objects. It's important to notify your doctor if you develop these symptoms or if they worsen, so they can help manage the condition.

My doctor prescribed cymbalta for the neuropathy and it worked well! It also made me feel good as it is an anti-depressant.

Hi GRAEME, TRUE VITAMIN Ɓ 12 IS THE ONE BUT YOU SHOULD ADD VITAMIN C With it. Start slowly with both you can over dose on Them . Also they sometimes give LYRICA or GABAPENTIN. Wearing a soft open support shoe also. Keep intouch, Christine

Hi Gramme
I have found that vitamin B12 is very effective for your problem. You’re probably low in that vitamin.
Give it a try and I hope it helps.
All the best. Trudy from Australia x
