That’s great news! I too had a clear scan after 3 rchop treatments. But I continued and finished all 6 total. It was recommended to me by my Dr and I wanted to give myself the best chance I could. Good luck. Kelly

I never had a PET Scan that showed my cancer, small cell lymphocytic lymphoma of the esophagus. But that is awesome if you're having a clean Scan.

When a PET scan shows no signs of cancer (also called a clean scan) before completing the full course of treatment, this is excellent news! However, doctors typically recommend completing the prescribed treatment plan to help ensure the best possible long-term outcome.

When a PET scan shows no signs of cancer (also called a clean scan) before completing the full course of treatment, this is excellent news! However, doctors typically recommend completing the prescribed treatment plan to help ensure the best possible long-term outcome.

PET scans show where cancer cells are actively using glucose (sugar) in the body. Even if no active cancer is visible, completing the remaining treatments helps eliminate any potential microscopic cancer cells that may be present but not detectable on the scan. Your healthcare team will continue to monitor your progress through follow-up scans and appointments. If your cancer does return after treatment, there are additional treatment options available, including different types of chemotherapy or immunotherapy. But completing your full prescribed course of treatment now gives you the best chance of preventing recurrence.
