What drives DLBCL relapses, and does lifestyle affect them?

Several factors influence DLBCL relapse risk, though the search results don't specifically address lifestyle factors or prediabetes as drivers of relapse. Here's what affects relapse chances:

Key factors that influence relapse risk:
* Your age
* Overall health status
* How aggressive your lymphoma subtype is
* Your initial response to treatment (complete vs. partial response)
* Your IPI score (higher scores mean higher relapse risk)
* Sex (males have higher relapse rates than females)

Timing matters: The risk of DLBCL relapse is highest within the first two years after completing treatment. About one-third of people who achieve complete response after R-CHOP treatment will relapse within this two-year window. Since you're five years out from treatment, your risk of late relapse is lower than it was initially.

Good news: The longer you stay in remission, the lower your chances of relapse become.

Regarding prediabetes specifically - the search results don't address whether prediabetes or metabolic conditions directly drive DLBCL relapses. It's understandable to feel anxious while waiting for biopsy results. Your oncology team can discuss your individual risk factors and what the biopsy reveals.
