Yes, this can happen. Some slow-growing (indolent) lymphomas have the potential to transform into faster-growing (aggressive) lymphomas over time. A couple of notable examples include:

- Follicular lymphoma (FL) — a slow-growing B-cell lymphoma that can transform into a more aggressive type
- CLL/SLL — another indolent lymphoma that can also shift into a more aggressive form

If this transformation happens, treatment is usually adjusted to a more intensive plan to address the faster-growing lymphoma.

It's also worth knowing that nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) can, in about 7% of cases, transform into aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The key takeaway is to stay on top of follow-up appointments and report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor promptly — catching changes early makes a real difference.
