Those swollen, painful lymph nodes in your groin sound really uncomfortable — and it's completely understandable to be concerned. Swollen lymph nodes are actually one of the most common early signs of lymphoma, and they often show up in the neck, armpits, or groin.

Here are the most common early symptoms to be aware of:

- Swollen lymph nodes — lumps in the neck, armpits, or groin (usually painless, but not always)
- Unexplained weight loss — rapid loss without trying, often 10% or more of body weight
- Night sweats — soaking through pajamas and sheets
- Fever — recurring fevers not linked to an infection
- Fatigue — persistent tiredness that doesn't improve with rest

The first three bullet points above (weight loss, night sweats, and fever) are known as "B symptoms" and are considered important markers that doctors pay close attention to. The fact that your lymph nodes are painful is worth mentioning to your doctor right away, especially if they've been swollen for more than two weeks or seem to be growing. Please don't wait on this one — reach out to your healthcare team as soon as possible so they can assess what's going on.
