In remission for DBCL, but 1 enlarged lymph node found on pet scan unsafe to biopsy. No B symptoms, feel great. Bloodwork good! Will have another pet scan to see if growing and concern relapse. So is it normal for oncologist to schedule transplant appt? I thought more chemo if relapsed ? I guess a precautionary. What was the treatment for anyone that relapse from DBCL MZL non Hodgkin’s?

Members responded with warmth and personal experience to a question about why an oncologist would schedule a bone marrow transplant appointment during a possible DBCL relapse. Several members shared that CAR-T therapy is now often preferred over a stem cell transplant because it is easier on the body, and one member shared that they are now cancer free after having both treatments over many years. A recurring theme was the importance of seeking second opinions, trusting specialized cancer centers, and leaning on faith and community support while waiting for scan results.

Nene Best of luck to you I sure hope Cart T works I think I would do a transplant as a very last resort

Dear Nene, You may have been with your oncologist for a long time but it is still advisable to get a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion. So many newer treatments are available now and not all doctors stay on the cutting edge of best emerging therapies. SCT is usually last resort anymore. God Bless🙏🩷🙏

Mayo Clinic is so good. Is yours in Rochester, Minnesota? If so, a phenomenal doctor there is Dr. Philippe Armand-director of Lymphoma Department.
He was my doctor for my stem cell transplant in 2010 and my CAR-T Cell Therapy this past October.
I am now cancer free and may be cured after all these years.🙏🏻♥️
