While it's worth mentioning to your care team, especially if it's intense or ongoing, here are some things that may help in the meantime:

- Apply a cool compress to affected areas
- Take an oatmeal bath
- Use fragrance-free soap and moisturizer
- Wear soft, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid scratching and keep fingernails trimmed
- Try an over-the-counter antihistamine, especially before bed

I have had itching on the back of my neck and scalp for the last five years, when I had the chemo. It is no fun but it is not unbearable. I have had tests and products to try to help but nothing really helps much. I just try not to think about it.

Have you tried taking benadryl. My doctor started me on valtrex before I started chemo and I have also taken Benadryl if I started feeling itchy. Also on chemo day, I am given a pretty big dose of Benadryl before chemo starts.
