What an incredibly tough time — GCSEs and a lymphoma diagnosis at the same time is a lot for anyone to handle, let alone a 16-year-old. You're not alone in this.

There are other parents on MyLymphomaTeam who are caring for a child with lymphoma and who truly understand what this journey feels like. Connecting with them could be a real source of comfort and practical advice. In terms of 6th form, it's worth knowing that schools and colleges in the UK have obligations to support students with serious health conditions. A few things that may help:

- Talk to the 6th form early — most schools can arrange deferred entry, flexible attendance, or extra exam support
- Ask the hospital team about a liaison or social worker who can help communicate with the school
- Look into exam access arrangements — exam boards can make accommodations for students going through medical treatment
- Macmillan Cancer Support offers specific guidance for young people and education in the UK

The treatment journey may have ups and downs, but many young people do continue their education with the right support in place. Keeping some normality can actually be really positive for mental wellbeing too.
