The Power of Letting Go of What You Can't Control

Posted on April 3, 2019

"Life is too short. I can't control everything in my life. Trying to is exhausting!!"
- Member of MyLymphomaTeam

When first faced with a lymphoma diagnosis, a common fear is a lack of control over our health. How could our bodies betray us? How do we grab the reins back and fix the situation? Living with a chronic disease forces us to recognize what we can and cannot control.

Members on MyLymphomaTeam have various strategies for letting go of control and fear, including:

  • Using guided imagery to visualize letting go
  • Opening up and trusting others
  • Organizing or cleaning the house
  • Reaching out for support from other members on MyLymphomaTeam

Here are recent conversations from MyLymphomaTeam members:

"I'm finding [this site] helpful after only joining yesterday. People who are going through the same thing as you can offer support, advice, answer questions, etc. It's awesome to have this available."

"2nd PET scan post-Chemo and Radiation, came out clear!"

"Physically I feel fine. Mentally I’m distracted and a little apprehensive. Anyone have any thoughts?"

Have you had moments of letting go just when you needed it most? What helps you let go of things out of your control? Share in the comments below or directly on MyLymphomaTeam.com.
