I have not started treatment for my lymphoma yet, but have been reading about it on the internet. The short answer to your question I think is YES. In fact most treatments take a few weeks, then are stopped to give your body time to get back to normal before starting the treatment again. The time from when one treatment starts to the time when it is repeated is called a CYCLE. Most people with chemo go through 4 to 8 cycles, which means several months in all.
If your doctor doesn't explain things clearly to you, look for another doctor or medical person who can help. This site has a lot of stories from people who probably have the same diagnosis as you and maybe have taken the same medicines.
