I've Asked This Before... What Do You Use For Nausea And Lack Of Appetite?
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

During chemo I was given Ondansetron OTD... About as useful as a back-rub. I asked for Marinol. The more modern of form of this cannabinoid is called Syndros. I was told it is approved only for AIDS related disease and anorexia. I was personally surprised as everyone should know by now that the one noteworthy reputation cannabis and related drugs are known for is it's use during chemotherapy. No problem though, my doctor got me a prescription for it. It worked wonders... I had a good, improved… read more

Hi Shelly261, I remember being given Zofran. It was ok but I think lorazepam worked best as I recall.

My doctor highly recommended medical cannabis. Because of my depression diagnosis I have one doctor recommending it and one doctor saying no. So I’m somewhat in a holding pattern on this issue. I currently use Zofran twice a day for nausea.

Hi Bob, thanks for the response and support. I feel ya’, 😢 I remember those days some 16 years ago when chemo cocktail wiped me out. I inquired about medical cannabis during my relapse in 2020. The treatment administered at that time didn’t have any real drawbacks like loss of hair and appetite except one - Rituxan wipes out a B cell component that fights the covid virus. Vac or not, no antibodies. 😕

Hi MikeC... I had to take steroids too, every other week beginning that Monday. I don't know for sure but I don't think that steroids are expected to solve these issues. I'll have to look into that, although I should know the answer. My experience on them sure didn't seem to make me feel good. At the end of the week my chemo-cocktail. I lost weight, lost my appetite, all my body hair.

What state do you live in?

Depending, it's sad that you can't get a cannabis card. That's the least they could do, and the thing is, you have power as a patient. You may be dying. Other let yourself just waste away you've chosen to have your cancer treated. It's a basically to live you have no other choice. That gives you the power to, in my experience, get what I need.

The simple fact you could get a card tells me you have a clear runway in front of you.

Unfortunately steroids. Work wonders but a huge down side. My onc said she could not help me get a medical cannabis card. I gave up trying.
