Members shared their experiences with the frustrating and exhausting problem of drenching night sweats, with many reporting that the sweats significantly improved or stopped after completing treatment, though some still have occasional mild episodes even years into remission. Several members offered practical solutions that worked for them, including sleeping on large bath towels for easier cleanup, using pet cooling mats from Amazon, drinking dandelion or green tea to reduce side effects and stay hydrated, and in one case taking a medication called Efixer that eliminated night sweats entirely. A recurring theme was reassurance that while the side effects are incredibly annoying and disruptive, they do tend to improve with time, along with encouragement to stay strong and take care of oneself during treatment.

MarshaWiner,
Hi! When I was in the hospital when I was first diagnosed, they put me on a cooling mat which really helped. I just looked up cooling mat on Amazon and they have them for animals and humans. I wonder if they work and if they would help? Mine was a plug in type at the hospital circulating cool water. But these at Amazon might help a little bit? Just a suggestion. I hope you are doing well my friend. Sending you a hug. Kelly

I got tired of changing bedding. Now I sleep on a large bath towel. It goes into the laundry and a clean one is put on the bed. Makes life easier than dealing with sheets.

Yes, the drenching night sweats can improve over time, especially as your lymphoma treatment progresses. Many MyLymphomaTeam members have reported that their sweating decreased significantly after completing treatment, with some noting it eventually happens only about once a month. In the meantime, there are several strategies that can help manage night sweats:

- Lower your bedroom temperature
- Place a towel over your bedsheets
- Use waterproof sheets or a mattress protector
- Wear light, breathable cotton pajamas
- Use multiple layers of sheets you can easily remove
- Consider using a fan for additional cooling
- Stay hydrated
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and sugary drinks before bed

Remember to keep your healthcare team informed about your symptoms. They may be able to recommend additional solutions, including medications that could help manage the sweating.

Thx. I sleep on a light flannel thrown. If need be, I then use my comforter only which is warm enough. Oh dear, all these annoying effects. I tried a towel but it kept creeping aroungd and wouldn't stay put!
