They took my port out about 2 and a half months after my 4th chemo, I was scheduled to have 6 treatments but my lymphoma was contained in my spleen which was removed 1 month prior to my 1st treatment. Both PET scans, one prior to chemo and one after chemo, showed no cancer in my body so they removed the port. I think it had to come out because it shifted twice and ended up being seen in my heart (just too freaky for me). My right back shoulder and right front clavicle were hurting also. I still get discomfort and mild pain in my neck.
My port had to be removed infection but doing well now
2 years is average because the majority of recurrences are in the first 2 years

Hi Mary, I am sorry but what does he want to keep in for 2 years? You port? Christine.
