What is the risk of DLBCL coming back after an autologous stem cell transplant?

Unfortunately, the search results don't provide specific recurrence rates after autologous stem cell transplantation. However, they do show that bone marrow transplants (which include stem cell transplants) are a common second-line treatment when DLBCL relapses after initial R-CHOP therapy.

What we do know is that after any second-line treatment for relapsed DLBCL, the chances of achieving and maintaining remission are lower than after first-line treatment. In one study, about 44 percent of people who relapsed after R-CHOP and received second-line treatment achieved a second remission.

The risk of relapse generally decreases the longer you stay in remission. For those who achieved complete response after first-line treatment and stayed in remission for two years, late relapses occurred in:

- 6.9 percent after three years
- 9.3 percent after five years
- 10.3 percent after eight years

Your oncologist can give you more specific information about your individual risk based on factors like your IPI score, how well you responded to previous treatments, and other personal health factors.
