Bowel problems are actually quite common for people living with lymphoma, whether from the condition itself or as a side effect of treatment. You're definitely not alone in dealing with this!
There are several things that may help manage bowel issues:
- Diet adjustments — Eating smaller, more frequent meals and avoiding foods that trigger symptoms can make a big difference
- Staying hydrated — Drinking plenty of fluids helps keep digestion moving
- Nutritional support — Some people find that working with a dietitian helps them identify foods that are easier to digest
- Enzyme supplements — These can help the body break down food more effectively
- Keeping a journal — Tracking what you eat and when symptoms occur can help identify triggers to avoid
- Gentle movement — Light activity like short walks can help stimulate digestion
It's really important to let your care team know about your bowel troubles. They can rule out anything serious and recommend the right treatment for your specific situation. Some bowel issues related to lymphoma or its treatment need medical attention, so don't tough it out alone — your doctor is your best ally here!
