I have hot flashes and Menopause age . It’s hard to tell whether it’s the Lymphoma causing the hot flashes . My doctors weee quick to say it’s menopause , but they were wrong .

Thanks! I don't remember being this being an issue before. I think I was expecting there to be zero symptoms since it's considered indolent. My family keep telling me since it's "not active," I shouldn't have any symptoms at all.

It could be a combination of both . The doctors told me it’s menopause and I did not solely buy it as it turned out it was the lymphoma. The doctors are sometimes quick to think it’s menopause . You have to advocate for yourself .

What a frustrating puzzle to deal with on top of everything else — and you're definitely not alone in this! Many people find it genuinely difficult to tell the difference between the two.

Here's the tricky part: hot flashes and night sweats are symptoms of both lymphoma and menopause. In fact, almost 1 in 3 people diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma are between the ages of 45 and 64 — exactly when menopause symptoms tend to appear.

A MyLymphomaTeam member shared, "I thought I was going through menopause when the night sweats started. I didn't know then that I had lymphoma." Some clues that sweating may be lymphoma-related include:

- Sweats that are truly drenching — soaking through clothing or bedding
- Sweats accompanied by unexplained fever or significant weight loss
- Sweats that feel different or more intense than typical menopause symptoms

Since you're on watch and wait, it's really important to track your symptoms carefully and report any changes to your doctor. They can help determine whether what you're experiencing is menopause-related or a sign that your lymphoma needs closer attention.

Don't hesitate to bring this up at your next appointment — no symptom is too small to mention!
