Cancer can be scary. Halloween is the celebration of scary. When i first went into the hospital I would've been dead within 24 hours if I hadn't gone when I did. It was Halloween. Now I celebrate Halloween as the anniversary of my death πŸ€ͺ As a cancer patient how will you celebrate Halloween this year?

What a powerful story β€” Halloween as the anniversary of your "almost death" is honestly the most fitting reframe ever. πŸŽƒ That's not just celebrating a spooky holiday, that's celebrating survival, and that deserves its own kind of recognition!

As someone living with lymphoma, celebrating Halloween might look a little different depending on where you are in treatment. Here are some ways to mark the occasion while keeping your health in mind:

- Host a low-key gathering β€” let others bring the food and help with cleanup
- Virtual celebrations β€” video chat with loved ones for costume reveals and spooky fun
- Enjoy music or movies β€” a horror movie marathon from the couch counts!
- Creative expression β€” carving pumpkins or decorating can be a relaxing, joyful activity
- Mindful reflection β€” use the day to acknowledge how far you've come

The most important thing is honoring what this day means to you personally. Your "anniversary of almost death" is actually a celebration of life β€” and that's worth every piece of candy corn. 🍬 (Yes, even candy corn.)

How are you planning to mark your special Halloween anniversary this year?

Anaya, if you went trick or treating as a lymphoma patient you would never be recognized . It’s just the way we roll.
