Anybody Have Swollen Nodes In Groin And Auxiliary Nodes
A MyLymphomaTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

My auxiliary nodes swole afte Covid booster. I had two ultra sounds but after two were shown to be growing, biopsy ordered. Biopsy results low grade lymphoma leukemia. Doctor referred me to Hematology. CDC showed high WBC but said smudge cells present. Has anybody had this and if so does the smudge cells mean my low grade lymphoma is CLL? Iโ€™m devastated.

Hi Patricia
The heating pad has really helped me with the painful inguinal nodes and it has helped reduce their size too. I have joint pain but not sure if itโ€™s from the CLL or the Fosomax the doctor prescribed for me right before I got the CLL diagnosis. God made these bodies and he alone truly understands them. Hope you feel better too.

Hi Wanda. So sorry to hear you are going through this. Yes, Covid boosters can, in some people, create a reactive response in the lymph nodes and they eventually recede back to normal. Often Lymphoma is found when they are looking at other things and so these two nodes may have been there before your booster reaction. Your physician should hopefully be assessing your diagnosis collectively on other tests such as flow cytometry, bone marrow biopsy as well as your bloodwork. Smudge cells do have an association with CLL but not absolutely, and that's why your oncologist would be evaluating not just the hematology but the results of the other tests also.

I hope you have a chance to sit down and ask all these questions to your oncologist. This is such a confusing time and a lot to digest. I remember taking a a family member with me on my visits. Before I went, I would tell him to write down all my questions and listen carefully to the oncologist's answers, because once I got to the office, I found things got overwhelming because I was dealing with emotions and couldn't recall a lot of the details. I hope you have someone who can be your 'wingman'. Praying for you and hoping for the best in your journey.

My primary care Dr kept tell ih ng me that after my (3) CoVid Boosters the swelling in the armpit area "is nothing." ๐Ÿ™„ They lasted 3-4+ weeks, happened on both arms where covid inj was given.

You Are Your best & only (reliable) advocate:
So keep questioning, asking, inquiring, making those Dr. Appts until You get answers!

Consider my example.
Do Not settle for," Weight loss is good, right?" ... I lost >50 lbs. in < 1 yr & my primary care Dr. thought it was wonderful - so he completely ignored me when I asked for the causes... What could be causing an
unintentional weight loss! No changes in eating, routine, exercise... I was unwillingly.. just dropping size after size..of clothes - & fearful.
Take care, be well ๐Ÿ™‰

Hi OuiCestMoiValE
Sadly the ones under one of my arms increased in size which began my cancer journey. I got the newer Covid booster and got enlarged nodes under the other armpit. They were not as large as they had been under my other arm. They are still present but donโ€™t seem to have grown. I blame the mnRA but only one doctor agreed that the vacs can lead to lymphoma. So now Iโ€™m diagnosed with CLL.
