I try not to dwell on my cancer. I do what's necessary for my ongoing well being and let it go at that. I don't worry. If I worry I feel like I've given control over to the cancer and I refuse to do that. God is in control so what have I got to worry about? Sooo ... The question to take your mind off cancer is ... What's your favorite thing about the holiday season? The food? The people? The presents? The memories? The fill-in-the-blank. Give it some thought and share here. 😁

Members warmly responded to a prompt about favorite holiday traditions, with family time emerging as the most cherished aspect, followed closely by food, decorations, and music. Several members shared specific joys like Christmas light tours with Santa hats, piano sing-alongs with grandchildren, crafting, people-watching at the mall, and midnight church services, while others opened up about navigating their first holiday after losing a parent. A recurring theme was gratitude for the memories and connections that make the season meaningful, even when grief and cancer are part of the picture.

I love the music! Music is the quickest way to reach the heart. It helps people feel all the feelings that come with this season: joy, excitement, nostalgia, hopeful, even sometimes a bit of the blues. Music puts all those feelings into words for us. I love playing the piano for sing-alongs, singing hymns in church, singing with my grandchildren, etc. And the songs remind us why we have Christmas in the first place. “What Child is This?”

Ajaya, I do the same as you! I stay busy and don’t really think too much about it unless someone asks me. Il looking forward to going to my daughter’s house for Christmas and spending time with my grand daughter. I love the decorations, music and food! Of course each year brings new wonderful memories. Ok missing my dad a lot right now. He passed away on March 13, 2024 and it’s been especially hard lately. But ik picturing him here enjoying everything just like he always did!
